The #Lagos State Government has taken action in response to the elevator accident that led to the death of Dr. Vwaere Diaso. The General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Management Agency (LASIAMA) has been suspended following the submission of a preliminary report into the elevator crash at the State General Hospital #Odan on #LagosIsland.
The facility management company in charge of the Hospital Complex has also been sacked and blacklisted. In addition, the Installation and Maintenance Engineers have been handed over to the Police for further investigation and possible prosecution if found culpable in the accident.
The State Government has also made other decisions, including changing the reporting line of the Maintenance team at the Hospital to involve the Management of the Hospital.
The preliminary report of the accident found that the elevator was not properly maintained and that there were several safety violations. The report also found that the facility management company had failed to carry out its responsibilities properly.
The Lagos State Government has vowed to ensure that all elevators in the state are properly maintained and that all safety regulations are followed. The government has also said that it will be working with the relevant agencies to improve the quality of healthcare in the state.
The family of Dr. Diaso has expressed their gratitude to the Lagos State Government for its swift action. They have also called for a thorough investigation into the accident and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
"We are grateful to the Lagos State Government for taking action," said Dr. Diaso's sister, Ese. "We hope that this will help to prevent other families from going through what we have gone through."
The Lagos State Government's response to the elevator accident has been met with mixed reactions. Some people have praised the government for taking swift action, while others have called for more to be done.
The case of Dr Diaso will be on our case watch. Injustice Is Real (IIR) commends the swift action of the Lagos State Government but would also like to add that the suspension and sacking must remain, pending a thorough investigation. Anyone found liable must be brought to book. #Justice must be served. Oganisations who disregard the health and safety of individuals should be levied a huge fine as compensation to the families or victims of injustice.
