Injustice in government offices is a global issue that affects many countries, including Nigeria. One recent example involves the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and its former Registrar-General, Abubakar.
The CAC, under the leadership of its former Registrar-General, Abubakar, had been the subject of controversy. Employees of the CAC celebrated the departure of Abubakar from his role as Registrar General. His leadership style was perceived as autocratic, earning him the moniker "Emperor."
The celebration of Abubakar's departure indicates a sense of relief among the employees, suggesting that his tenure may have been marked by practices that were not in the best interest of the staff or the organization.
Injustice is Real (IIR) Challenge with Registration of Its Name.
Injustice is Real is an organization that advocates for justice. However, it has faced challenges in its quest for legal registration of its name. Like many, IIR has submitted a few names to the registrar's office for approval but has been unsuccessful on each occasion.
In conversation with a colleague about her experience of registering her company name at CAC, it was mentioned that 13 names were submitted to the registrar general, and only on the 14th attempt were they successful. Many other frustrating experiences have been recounted by Nigerians.
This denial of legal registration is an act of injustice, hindering the ability of many organizations to operate effectively. If they don't like your company name, or if they find your company name a threat the CAC disapproves it on grounds that the name is 'Vague' or it will 'mislead' despite that the company's objectives and mission statement are clear. It's also worth noting that to submit a name for registration, payment must be made.
IIR hopes for increased transparency and swift actions for all those who require the services of CAC as an organization.
The Way Forward
The case of the CAC and Injustice is Real highlights the need for transparency, accountability, and justice in government offices. It underscores the importance of leadership that upholds these values.
Government offices must operate with integrity and fairness. This not only ensures efficient service delivery but also fosters a healthy work environment for employees.
