Another Chibok Girl Rescued After 9 Years in Captivity

The Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of another Chibok girl, Mary Nkeki, who was abducted by Boko Haram in 2014. Nkeki was rescued on August 14, 2023, by troops of the 81 Task Force Battalion in Dikwa, Borno State.

Nkeki is now 27 years old and was one of the 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok on April 14, 2014. The kidnapping sparked international outrage and a global campaign to #BringBackOurGirls.

Nkeki's rescue is a welcome development, but it is also a reminder of the ongoing crisis in Nigeria. Boko Haram is still active in the northeast of the country, and thousands of people have been killed or displaced by the conflict.

The mission of Injustice is Real is to raise awareness of injustice and to work to end it. The rescue of Mary Nkeki is a reminder that injustice is real. The Nigerian government should ensure she is attended to with urgency. Ongoing counseling and support should be provided immediately.

We must continue to work to end injustice and bring all the Chibok girls home.

Prayer for the rest of the Girls Still Held in Captivity. We pray for the rest of the Chibok girls who are still held in captivity by Boko Haram. We pray for their safety and their release. We pray that they will be able to heal from the trauma they have experienced and that they will be able to rebuild their lives. We pray for an end to this conflict and that all the girls will be able to return home to their families.

We can all do our part to help end injustice. We can raise awareness of the issue, we can donate to organizations that are working to help, and we can speak out against injustice whenever we see it.
